Based upon case material provided by the students, the opening middle and end phase theoretical and technical issues will be demonstrated and integrated. The most common problems that beginners have will be dealt with. These include the first phone call , setting up the evaluation the type of data sought from the parents appointment times, involvement with the parents, and resistances.
Resistances include, the unwilling child, silence and in some instances departing from the office.
The use of play and drawings as a communication will be explored and their usefulness in providing data to formulate an intervention will be demonstrated.
Finally, the students will be encouraged to look for unconscious psychic conflict and assess developmental progression.
