The primary focus during the 10 weeks of selected topics is a review of the diagnosis and treatment of childhood trauma. There is an introduction to the types of trauma with the variations of emotional sequellae. A detailed session by session treatment manual for Cognitive Behavior Therapy of Traumatic Bereavement in Children is presented with clinical illustrations. Current research and treatment interventions for Complex Trauma and Developmental Trauma Disorders are reviewed.
Other topics include psychosomatic conditions in children with a focus on gastrointestinal disorders and the importance of fairy tales in childhood development. There is opportunity for candidates to identify special topics of interest for discussion.
