Richard Palu, M.D. is a Board Certified, Fellowship trained Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with practices in Manhattan and Bergen County, NJ. His Residency in Ophthalmology was at NYU Medical Center.; His Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in the Section of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NYU Medical Center. His research interests include studies of eyelid and orbital anatomy as it applies to clinical and surgical care and the effects of periocular surgery on the baseline function of eye. In addition, he is an Attending Physician at The Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center, both in Bergen County, NJ He has taught Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NYU since 1989. His clinical practice involves reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and eyebrows, the orbit, and the nasolacrimal system. In addition to his individual expertise in these areas, he routinely works in conjunction with dermatologists, otolaryngologists, neurosurgeons, and plastic surgeons in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. He is also director of the Section of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Manhattan VA Medical Center.
