The first fellowship, in sports medicine, focused on the latest arthroscopic treatments for shoulder, knee and ankle conditions. The second fellowship emphasized ankle and foot reconstructive surgery. Dr. Mroczek is the Chief of the Foot and Ankle Division and Director of The Diabetes Foot and Ankle Center [8] at The NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is an Assistant Professor at the NYU School of Medicine.
Since Dr. Mroczek is uniquely trained in both sports medicine as well as foot and ankle reconstruction, his goal is to make every attempt to return the patient to their desired athletic activity. He has treated athletes in a wide variety of sports and has served as a consultant for several professional teams. Specific areas of interest include ankle instability, cartilage injuries and tendon disorders. Dr. Mroczek specializes in minimally invasive and arthroscopic treatment of sports-related injuries.
As Director of The Diabetes Foot and Ankle Center [8], Dr. Mroczek has vast experience in treating complications related to diabetes. His expertise includes the treatment of deformities related to charcot neuroarthropathy and infection. Dr. Mroczek uses the latest techniques in reconstruction for limb salvage to prevent amputation.
Dr. Mroczek is a member of The Center for Ankle Arthritis [9] at The NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He treats degenerative arthritis of the foot and ankle with bracing, injections and surgical reconstruction. A full range of surgical options including arthroscopic debridement, replacement and fusion are considered depending on the patient's needs.
