Dr. Basil K. Lucak is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and an attending gastroenterologist at Tisch Hospital, NYU Langone Medical Center.
Dr. Lucak's practice is devoted to clinical gastroenterology and gastrointestinal endoscopy. He has a particular interest and expertise in functional bowel disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic constipation, and chronic diarrhea. In addition, he is highly experienced in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), diverticular disease, and infections involving the gastrointestinal system. He also is highly skilled in performing complex colonoscopy and polypectomy.
Dr. Lucak's approach to medical care is one of treating the whole patient while providing accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment for each patient's gastrointestinal problem.
A fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, Dr. Lucak has also been named by the New York Times Magazine as a "New York Super Doctor" in Gastroenterology, every year since the inception of the award in 2009. He has also been a recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctors New York Metro Area Award.
Dr. Lucak received his undergraduate degree from NYU Washington Square College of Arts and Sciences, graduating magna cum laude with honors in Biology. He received his medical degree and a University Honors Scholar Award from the NYU School of Medicine, and completed his Gastroenterology fellowship training at the NYU Langone Medical Center.
