Research Interests

As a pediatric neuro-oncologist with a special interest in translational research and developing novel, molecular targeted therapies, my work focuses on low-grade tumors, including those arising in the setting of tumor disposition syndromes, such as neurofibromatosis. I currently serve as PI on several single and multi-institutional clinical-translational trials for patients with low-grade gliomas and neurofibromatosis type 2, as well as investigator of the Department of Defense/CDMRP NF Clinical Trials Consortium. In a number of basic/translational laboratory projects related to NF and brain tumors, I collaborate with other scientists from NYU and other institutions. Specific areas of investigation include the ErbB receptor family, RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK and mTOR signaling pathways. On a national level, I am involved in clinical protocol development with molecular targeted agents for children with brain tumors as a member of the Childrena??s Oncology Group CNS Committee.
