Clinical Responsibilities

Arthur Atchabahian, MD, was a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Paris, France, prior to coming to the United States to do research on peripheral nerve grafts and nerve injection injury at Washington University in St Louis. He then trained in anesthesiology at Columbia University and in critical care medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, both in New York City. Before joining NYU/HJD, Dr. Atchabahian was on staff at Columbia University, then at St Vincent Medical Center as the Director of Regional and Orthopedic Anesthesia. His current interests include applied anatomy, continuous perineural blocks, especially in an ambulatory setting, the development of multimodal analgesia regimens, and education in regional anesthesia. He has published 17 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 15 book chapters, and has given numerous presentations nationally and internationally.
