Appointments and Information
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM-5:00 PM
NYU Langone Medical Center
The NYU Blood Center is located in the Schwartz Health Care Center Building, HCC-102 (off the lobby by the G elevators)
NYU's Washington Square blood donor site is located on the southwest corner of Mercer and West Third Streets (1 block North of Coles Gym). The Washington Square location serves volunteer donors only (no autologous or directed donors) and is open on certain days of the month. For information on dates and times, please contact the NYU Blood Center at the phone number or e-mail above.
Patients who may require blood during their hospitalization have two donation options:
Anyone over 17 years of age in good health may donate. A history of hepatitis, jaundice, heart disease, or exposure to AIDS will disqualify the donor. Most cancer survivors (except melanoma, lymphomas, leukemia, and Hodgkin's Disease) are eligible to donate after 2 years' remission.
If you are a blood donor from the Ukraine and have been deferred in the past, you may now be eligible to donate. Call the NYU Blood Center (phone number above) for details.
Requirements for autologous donation vary. Most medications are allowed.
The staff at the Blood Donor Center will be happy to answer any questions.
Eligible volunteer donors receive a small token of appreciation.
