The Patient Libraries help patients, families and caregivers find what they need to know about their diagnosis, condition and treatment. Our librarians help patients and families find health information in words and language they can understand to help support medical decision making. The librarians are available in person, by phone, by email [1], and on Facebook [2].
Our librarians can answer informational questions such as “What is diabetes?” or “Where can I learn more about heart disease?” Questions that are specific to individual patients, such as “Why am I feeling sick? or “What medications do I need?” should be addressed to a doctor or other health care provider.
To ask a question, please use this form. [1] A librarian will respond in 1 to 4 days. This service is free and confidential.
If this is a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
NYU Langone Medical Center has three patient libraries that contain health, medical and wellness books as well as other types of health literature. All have computers and access to the Internet.
Patient and Family Resource Center
As the medical center rebuilds after Hurricane Sandy, the Patient & Family Resource Center is currently displaced from our former location. But one thing has not changed: We still offer the same personalized service to help you with health information questions that support your patient experience. Patient Library services are currently offered by phone (212) 263-7438, U.S. postal mail or email. In some cases, materials may be delivered to the unit. Call, mail in your request to our postal address, or email us at patientlibrary@nyumc.org [3]. You can also find us on Facebook [2].Phone: (212) 263-7438
