The Comparative Effectiveness and Implementation Research Training Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine typically accepts applications until the end of April for the following summer. Applicants can expect to be notified about acceptance two to three weeks after the application deadline.

We encourage prospective students to learn more about the MS in clinical investigation, with a concentration in comparative effectiveness and implementation research, and the advanced certificate to determine which training program better matches your prior training. You can only apply to one training program.

Apply online to the program. Please include the following materials with your application:

• your current CV
• a one-page description of a potential research project (or projects)
• a half-page description of your career goals
• two letters of recommendation
• a letter from the dean, director, or chair of your current program verifying support for your application and guaranteeing protected time for your participation

Evaluation Criteria

There is no typical student in this program. Because our student body is so diverse, we evaluate each applicant holistically. Following are some examples of our past students’ backgrounds:

• clinical faculty or fellows at NYU Langone and other regional medical institutions launching or enhancing their research careers
• faculty or staff who wish to strengthen a particular research skill by taking a single course
• postdoctoral researchers in fields such as social work, public health, and biostatistics
• practicing physicians looking to strengthen their research capacity for quality improvement efforts in their practice
• researchers who include the program or coursework in their National Institutes of Health Career Development (K) award–specified training
• students matriculated in another postgraduate program who take courses as electives
