Disability Curriculum

Bellevue Lunch

As part of a collaboration between United Cerebral Palsy of New York City (UCP/NYC) and New York University Langone Medical Center, Rehabilitation residents lead workshops for first year medical students to educate them about disabilities and encourage empathy towards individuals with disabilities.  The curriculum is designed to introduce future doctors to the daily challenges faced by individuals with disabilities when they attempt to access health care services.  The medical students are trained in how to communicate more effectively with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, with the hope of removing some of the barriers and improving the quality of health care for individuals with disabilities.
