Plastic Surgery Clinical Research

Investigators in our clinical research program at NYU Langone’s Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery conduct advanced clinical trials; provide leadership, oversight, and management of clinical studies; and provide our fellows, residents, and medical students with an array of educational opportunities.

Clinical Research Areas of Interest

Under the leadership of Eduardo D. Rodriguez, MD, DDS, department chair, and Daniel J. Ceradini, MD, director of research, we take part in clinical studies in all areas of plastic surgery, particularly craniomaxillofacial allotransplantation, or face transplant research, craniofacial surgery, and microsurgical reconstruction.

Other active areas under clinical investigation are listed below:

  • acceleration of wound healing
  • wound-healing surgical techniques
  • cleft lip and palate surgery
  • presurgical infant orthopedics
  • breast reconstruction
  • hand surgery and transplantation
  • craniosynostosis

We also research ways to improve the acquisition of microsurgical skills.
