Nancy Sanchez

Senior Vice President and Vice Dean, Human Resources and Organizational Development and Learning

Nancy Sanchez, senior vice president and vice dean for human resources and organizational development and learning, is responsible for strategic human resources initiatives, practices and operations, supporting over 17,000 faculty and staff across NYU Langone Medical Center. Since her arrival almost 30 years ago, she has held numerous leadership roles in the Department of Human Resources, including in the areas of compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment and training. She developed an early business philosophy, which has guided her over the course of her tenure: build an effective partnership with all levels in the organization to develop Human Resources (HR) and Office of Development and Leadership (ODL) programs and initiatives to support managers, while also fostering the development of faculty and staff.

Among her recent efforts, Ms. Sanchez has led initiatives to simplify the administration of HR services for managers and staff, including identifying and selecting eAppraisal, the Medical Center’s new performance management system; developing e-Hire, an online tool to expedite approval to hire staff; automating the process for employment and income verification via The Work Number; developing a robust new user-friendly HR website; selecting and implementing a new online learning management system; and developing a Benefits Call Center to increase access and facilitate higher customer service to the NYU Langone employees.

Operating under the belief that the most important and valued resource at the Medical Center is its employees, Ms. Sanchez oversees the development of a talent management strategy, based on a competency model, to foster the development of faculty, staff and leadership at the Medical Center.

Representing the “voice of the employee,” Ms. Sanchez continues to be a strong employee advocate across the organization as well as externally by participating in national employer councils.

Ms. Sanchez holds a master of science from the Baruch/Cornell Program of Industrial and Labor Relations.
