George Foltin M.D.
Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine



Primary Responsibilities
Dr. George Foltin is currently the Director of the Center for Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine, and Director of the Pediatric Emergency Service at Bellevue Hospital. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Foltin has been and continues to be Principal Investigator of many federally-funded grant projects including: Pediatric Out-of-Hospital Cardiac and Respiratory Arrest Study in NYC; Project to develop the Pediatric Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness Resource in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics; Project to develop the Basic and Paramedic versions of the TRIPP (Teaching Resource for Instructors in Prehospital Pediatrics); The National Child Protection Education Project; and is Co-PI for the Emergency Medical Services for Children Research Network Development Demonstration Project.

Dr. Foltin served as a member of the Medical Oversight Committee for the EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum project, and was one of the developers of the "Pediatric Utstein", a template for studying cardiac and respiratory arrest in children. He is a primary author and editor of the TRIPP (Teaching Resource for Instructors in Prehospital Pediatrics). He is a member of the Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics and co-chair of the District II Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Regional Medical Advisory Committee of NYC, and a former Board member of the National Association of EMS Physicians.

Dr. Foltin has been director of the Bellevue Hospital Emergency Service since 1987. During his tenure there he developed the first Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship in the State of New York. He has been very involved with the education of medical students, residents and fellows during his entire time at NYU/Bellevue.
