Total Laparoscopy
Hysterectomy
(TLH)
and
Laparoscopic
Supracervical Hysterectomy
(LSH)
A total laparoscopic hysterectomy is a procedure first performed
in 1989. It is the removal of the entire uterus (LSH) and cervix
(TLH) through the laparoscope. The uterus may be pushed out through
the vagina or may be morcellated and removed one of small laparoscopic
incisions. Either way, you will most likely be in the hospital
for less than 24 hours!!!
Most patients who have this procedure have
far less pain than traditional adbominal hysterectomy and are back
at work within 7-10 days (traditional hysterectomy leaves most people
out of work for 6 or more weeks).
Dr. Levey can perform your laparoscopic hysterectomy
using specialized equipment available at NYU Medical Center such
as a morcellator.

A uterus of almost any size can be
removed safely with a laparoscopic procedure.
If you would like to have you hysterectomy
with a minimally invasive approach such as TLH, please contact
Dr. Levey's office for a consultation.
