At Bellevue Hospital Center, the pediatric infectious diseases resident will be consulted for selected infection control issues.

When the Infection Control Service initiates an intervention or program, the pediatric infectious diseases resident will be informed of the protocol and may participate in the collection of epidemiological data. Recommendations will be made in direct discussions with the Infection Control Attendings.

In addition, a joint adult pediatric Infection Control Conference is held weekly. Subspecialty residents will be expected to spend at least two months at these conferences during which time infectious outbreaks and infection control policies will be discussed.
