Division of Adolescent Medicine

Experts in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at NYU Langone Health provide outpatient and inpatient consultative care for adolescents and young adults between the ages of 11 and 25 and their families. Clinical services include contraception management; testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections; medical management of eating disorders; adolescent gynecology, including management of menstrual disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome; medical management of uncomplicated depression and anxiety; first-trimester pregnancy options counseling; and gender-affirming medical care.

The division works with psychologists and social workers at a multidisciplinary gender-affirming care clinic at Fink Children’s Ambulatory Care Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, to offer integrative behavioral health and wellbeing care to adolescent patients. Similarly, division faculty lend their expertise to and collaborate with the Gender and Sexuality Service at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital’s Child Study Center.

To help train medical students and residents, the division offers a four-week elective during which trainees see patients at both NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital. This provides trainees expertise in caring for adolescent patients and a better understanding of how to develop a rapport with young adults.

Investigators’ research focuses on gaining greater insight into the issues and diseases that affect adolescents, as well as on clinical care that improves their health and wellbeing.
