In response to the significant needs of our patient population, the PRC provides extensive child development services.
Under the leadership of specialists in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, child psychiatry and psychology, the clinical developmental services listed above provide evaluation and management for children with developmental delay, ADHD, learning disabilities, and behavior problems.
In addition to these clinical services, child life / child development staff working throughout the PRC provides developmental screening and support services, parenting programs, and numerous therapeutic interventions for our patients.
For example, in collaboration with pediatricians, nurses, social workers, and nutritionists, child life staff plays an integral role in the operation of multidisciplinary programs for adolescent parents and their children, children with chronic illness (asthma and diabetes), high-risk newborns, children with HIV infection, and for children being screened and prepared for elective surgery.
