Your Hospital Bill
Your hospital bill will show three kinds of charges:

The daily care charge represents a portion of the costs for the day-to-day operation of the hospital. It includes 24-hour nursing care, food, linen service, and other supportive functions. The daily care charge will be apportioned between you and your insurance carrier, if applicable.
Payment for private duty nursing is arranged through the Private Duty Nursing Office and billed separately.

Optional personal charges include special food orders and the private room differential, if applicable. Optional personal charges are not covered by insurance.

Patient Financial Counselors and Financial Assistance
Patient Financial Counselors are available to discuss any outstanding financial responsibilities not covered by insurance. Financial Counselors can assist you in applying for Government sponsored programs or NYU Hospitals Center's Financial Assistance program.

You will be billed separately for charges related to your attending physician, any consulting physicians (e.g., an anesthesiologist and a pathologist), or professional interpretations of specialized tests (e.g., x-rays and EKGs).
Payment
You will be asked to pay for any charges not covered by your insurance at the time of discharge. NYU Langone Medical Center accepts cash, personal checks, and several credit cards.
