Guidelines for Tests and Specimens

Specimens submitted to NYU Langone clinical laboratories must be submitted in a proper container with the patient information, specimen name, site, and the appropriate electronic order details from the Epic system.

Each test requires specific sample types and collection containers. See a list of test names and sample requirements in the NYU Langone Clinical Laboratories test menu.

Please include the following required information:

  • patient name
  • medical record number
  • date of birth
  • requesting provider
  • specimen submitted
  • date of collection
