The Department of Medical Parasitology aims to achieve
excellence in both research and teaching in
the field of parasitology. Our goal is to discover and implement novel
strategies to control parasitic diseases, such as malaria, that affect
the health of millions worldwide, especially children. We employ cutting-edge
research in genomics, cell biology, immunology, epidemiology, entomology
and biochemistry to discover new ways to combat parasitic disease.
Through our teaching
and training programs, we aim to educate and mentor the next generation
of parasitologists.
The Department has undergone significant changes
in the last 12 months, including the completion of an extensive
program of renovation and re-fitting of our historic building
and hiring of new faculty. More information about these
changes can be found in the news
