The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners play an integral role in pre- and postoperative patient management by providing a wide range of critical support services. As trained health professionals with postgraduate degrees, they provide care to patients under the supervision of a physician to assist in:

• Preadmission testing: completing physician-ordered history and physical examinations and answering patient questions about procedures

• Surgery: providing follow-up care to inpatients

• Orthopaedic clinics: facilitating the smooth flow of patients and assuring the highest standards of quality
