Whether you are seeking care of a common foot and ankle condition, need advanced or specialized diabetes-related treatment, or have suffered a sports- or dance-related injury, our orthopaedic specialists can help get you on your feet again.
The NYU HJD Foot and Ankle Division is one of the oldest in the United States, founded over 45 years ago by a pioneer of the specialty, Dr. Paul Lapidus. Today, our orthopaedists are responsible for over 10,000 patient visits and 800 surgical procedures per year.
We feature strong working relationships with the Diabetes Foot and Ankle Center, the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries, and our Sports Medicine specialty to provide complete and comprehensive care of all foot and ankle problems.

Orthopaedic Research
Research is also a long-standing part of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYUHJD’s tradition of excellence and leadership. Some of our recent studies have centered on the biomechanical relationship between ankle ligaments and hind-foot stability and the incidence of renal insufficiency in various forms of charcot.
