Ortholift 2009- Show your Support!

The third annual ORTHO-LIFT has been scheduled for May 31, 2009.   This year’s event will be held at 10 AM in the lobby of the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases at 301 East 17th Street.

ORTHO-LIFT is a fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Manhattan.  Last year the event raised over $15,000.00.

Residents from the following programs have participated in the ORTHO-LIFT:
New York Medical College (Brooklyn-Queens), Hospital for Special Surgery, and NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases.

ORTHO-LIFT is a weight-lifting competition that consists of three events:

  • Pull-ups
  • Dips
  • Bench-press

The strongest pound for pound competitor will be determined using the Schwartz-Malone formula. The formula adjusts for gender and body weight.

Trophies will be awarded to the winners of each event and prizes will be handed out to the individuals who raise the most money for MDA.

Participants will use MOOLA, MDA’s online fundraising tool.

MOOLA easily allows participants to ask friends, family and colleagues for donations via the Internet and e-mail so they are able to take part in the weight-lifting competition. The individual goal for each participant is $500.

All ORTHO-LIFT dollars benefit the MDA Summer Camp in Spring Valley, NY.  MDA provides disabled local children the opportunity to attend a free summer camp.  The facility offers a wide range of activities including swimming, arts and crafts, and a talent show.
