Joseph Zuckerman MD, Chairman

Joseph D. Zuckerman, MD, Walter A.L. Thompson Professor and Chairman of the NYU HJD Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, was elected President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) at the Academy's Annual Meeting in Las Vegas on February 26, 2009.

“I am honored to assume the leadership position of this great organization,” said Dr. Zuckerman

Dr. Zuckerman was elected a junior member-at-large of the AAOS in 1992. Since then, he has served as chair of the Surgical Skills Committee, chair of the Council on Education, and most recently as Vice President of the organization.

The AAOS is the world's largest and most prestigious medical association of musculoskeletal specialists, serving 24,000 members internationally.
