NYU Department of Ophthalmology Residency Program
Admission and Application
The Department of Ophthalmology selects its residents through the Ophthalmology Matching Program. Seven residents are selected each year.
Residents are matched approximately 18 months prior to the starting date.
Application Procedure
We participate in the Ophthalmology Matching Program (OMP). Please contact the San Francisco Match (details below) in order to register for the match and apply for the Central Application Service (CAS). The CAS will distribute your application to our residency program.

Candidates are asked not to send any materials directly to the NYU Department of Ophthalmology.

Applicants who have graduated from non-U.S. medical schools must also provide the following:
- ECFMG/USMLE 2 test results
- valid ECFMG certificate
- HB1/J-1 green card
- passport
- birth certificate (if U.S. born)
- social security card (if U.S. born)
- proof of fulfillment of PGY-1 in the U.S.
