The Office of Medical Education guides Module and Course Directors through development and implementation of basic science courses, from planning, scheduling, case development, and student assessment.

Module/Course Objectives

The LCME requires well constructed “robust” objectives to be stated for each course. The OME assists faculty in developing curricular and course objectives in compliance with LCME standards for basic science courses as well as clerkships.

Case Development/Design

The OME offers instruction on writing effective cases which engage the students in problem solving and reinforce concepts. Cases may be presented in various forms such as paper cases, videos, real patients, simulated patients and computer case simulations. These are used throughout the curriculum in small groups seminars, laboratories and CPCs.
