Understanding the needs of the client company is the first step in designing an effective corporate ergonomics program. The OIOC conducts evaluations to gain insight into the aspects of organizational culture that may be affected by ergonomic issues. This process may be informal or formal depending upon the structure and nature of the situation.
Formal evaluation processes include:
- Injury Rate Surveillance: achieved by reviewing OSHA Logs, Workers Compensation Claims and interviewing human resources and corporate health personnel.
- Risk Factor Surveillance: accomplished through observations or measurements that assess worksite tools, job demands and workplace conditions.
- Focus Groups: conducted by an expert facilitator to extract information from management, industry representatives and/or subject matter experts on work factors that contribute to musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Based on the needs identified through the evaluation, we design an effective corporate ergonomics program that combines the following services:
- Education/Training Programs
- Job Analysis
- Worksite Accommodations
- Product Design and Evaluation
- Furniture and Work Tools Recommendations
- Development of Medical Standards
