Education/Training Programs

The OIOC is committed to the advancement and practical application of scientific knowledge. To this end, the Center offers a variety of educational services designed to promote health and safety at work. The OIOC's affiliation with New York University ensures that skilled instructors from many disciplines are able to offer the most current information available in an accessible manner for all employee groups.

The OIOC trains and educates your staff in the prevention of musculoskeletal problems. Our experience with Train-the-Trainer programs has been positively received, and encourages autonomy in educating your workforce. In collaboration with your staff, we prepare on-site training, adapted to meet the needs of management, unions and employees.

We can offer:

  • Group Lectures: at the plant or in the office, where topics of relevance to your employees can be presented and discussed in a customized and practical manner. Choose among a variety of topics including safety at work, ergonomic job place modifications, psychosocial stressors in the workplace, coping with stress at work, chemical and physical work hazards, musculoskeletal injury prevention programs, identifying appropriate tools and personal protective devices, and matching the employee to the job.
  • On-Site Training: where ergonomic, physiology, health, and psychological knowledge can be applied to improve health and employee satisfaction. Our ergonomic awareness training, as well as back, neck and pain management schools, combine lectures, exercises, and discussion in an interactive small-group format. This format allows for reinforcement and practice of newly acquired skills. We can also help you design, implement and maintain ongoing injury prevention programs in your workplace.
