Resources for Researchers & Study Teams

NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Office of Science and Research is committed to making it easier for investigators to conduct clinical research in compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. Staff members in our Clinical Research Support Unit and Human Research Protections support investigators in initiating, conducting, and managing studies by providing guidance in several crucial areas, including financial processes, grants and contracting, and submitting to an institutional review board (IRB).

Recruiting Participants

There are several ways an investigator can recruit participants for a clinical trial or research study. ResearchMatch allows researchers to conduct either a feasibility search, in which you can view aggregate data in order to generate a hypothesis or explore recruitment potential for a study, or recruit volunteers for an IRB-approved study. You can also use the registry to search profiles (which are sorted by age, gender, race, health status, medications, and other metrics but are deidentified) of potential volunteers.

Any member of NYU Langone can sign up for ResearchMatch. To register as a researcher, create an account and select “New York University” as your institutional affiliation.

For any questions about using ResearchMatch to recruit study participants, please email nyuresearchmatch@nyulangone.org.

To help you recruit participants for a clinical trial or research study, we’ve created recruitment templates that you can download.

ClinicalTrials.gov

Federal regulations require that all applicable clinical trials be registered on clinicaltrials.gov, a database maintained by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A comprehensive resource, clinicaltrials.gov provides information on current regulations, including the recently released final rule for submitting summary results and registration information to the NIH. Investigators may also elect to use clinicaltrials.gov to recruit participants, and prospective volunteers can search the database for information about your study.

Study registration and the submission of results are managed centrally by our Office of Science and Research. If you would like to be granted a clinicaltrials.gov account or have questions regarding registering your study or submitting results, please contact prsregistration@nyulangone.org.
