Stand-Up for Healthcare Access 2006 raises $20,021 for New York's uninsured

Nine of America's top comedians. Three-hundred fifty healthcare professionals, public health officials, and community members. One cause - serving New York's uninsured.

The sound emanating from the Kimmel Center in New York City on February 23 was not simply laughter, but more a unified pronouncement to stand up for healthcare access as a basic right. NYCFC supporters, new and long-standing, from across the five boroughs, New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut gathered in support of the NYCFC as an essential resource for uninsured New Yorkers.

The NYCFC's first annual comedy show and dinner benefit, Stand-Up for Healthcare Access 2006 raised $20,021 for New York's only comprehensive free healthcare clinic. All proceeds go directly to patient care at the NYCFC.

Featuring Saturday Night Live's Colin Quinn, Gregg Rogell of The Aristocrats, and Last Comic Standing's Craig Baldo [full roster & bios], nine of the hottest comedians from across the country came together to lend their comic talent in celebration of the NYCFC. Together, they advocated for a shared commitment to providing free comprehensive care for those otherwise without access to affordable healthcare.

The benefit was generously sponsored by NYU College of Dentistry, the Institute for Urban Family Health, NYU School of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine Faculty Council, NYU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, NYU Stern School of Business Scholars Program, and Water Street Hall Council.
