11 East Orthopaedic/Vascular Surgical Unit

• 31 bed Surgical Unit consisting of two levels of care:
  • 23 Acute Beds (with telemetry beds available)
  • 8 Step Down Unit Beds
• Patient population consists primarily of pre and post-operative adults, including, but not limited to:
  • Orthopaedic
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Ear Nose & Throat Surgery
• Critically ill patients who require one or more of the following:
  • Continuous Insulin Infusion Therapy (CIIT)
  • Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) dressing
  • Vascular checks using surgical Doppler
  • Autotransfusion using Hemovacs
• Training specific to 11 East and precepting to become an important member of our team.
• Join nursing committees and aid in the development of Nursing Practice Standards to enhance quality of patient care using evidenced based practice.
• Collaboration among members of the interdisciplinary team with a mutual goal of enhancing patient safety and care.
• Opportunities for Student Nurse Externs offered through a comprehensive program designed to develop knowledge of the nursing process while stimulating critical thinking.
