Stephen M. Russell, MD
Dr. Russell is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, and the recipient of the 2005 NREF Young Clinician Investigator Award from the AANS. His laboratory investigates guidance mechanisms controlling nerve regeneration in the axolotl (salamander). Specifically, he is investigating the spatial and temporal expression of the vertebrate embryonic guidance protein netrin-1 and its receptors DCC and unc-5 during axonal regeneration.
