Mass spectrometry (MS) and atomic absorption (AA) spectroscopy; consultative services to NYU investigators in physical and inorganic chemistry, separations science, and spectral interpretation (MS, NMR, UV); training of students and researchers in the use of MS, NMR, and AA.
Biostatistics
Statistical collaboration and consultation in clinical and translational oncology, basic science, cancer epidemiology and prevention, and the core research services. Statistical expertise in research study design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results for clinical trials, laboratory experiments, and observational studies.
Core Clinical Laboratory
Support of immune-modulating antineoplastic agents and cytotoxic therapies, specialized clinical correlates to monitor novel approaches to cancer treatment. Laboratory support for institutional cancer clinical trials, logistical support for trials that require specimen collection and assessment of multiple parameters ranging from specialized tests for patient eligibility to quality control of specialized therapeutic modalities.
Cytogenics
Traditional chromosomal karyotyping of experimental cell lines chromosomal damage analysis, including sister chromatid exchange (SCE) micronucleus quantitation fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) technology, including metaphase and interphase FISH.
Experimental Animal and Exposure Core
Facilities, animal care, technical assistance for experiments with rodent species involving delivery of carcinogenic and toxic chemicals, infectious agents, or intervention compounds, using inhalation, systemic, dermal, and oral administration routes of exposure; experimental design and conduct for cancer-related animal studies; segregated housing and health monitoring of animals; necropsy services for animal experiments.
Experimental Pathology
Anatomic pathology: tissues acquisition and banking, histopathology, acquisition of human pathological specimens, processing of human and murine tissues; resources and guidance for investigators; access to immunohistochemistry, murine cytogenetics, laser capture, quantitative morphometry, and the preparation of tissue arrays.

Genomics Facility
Affymetrix Genechip system for gene expression and DNA genotyping analyses, manufacturing of spotted DNA arrays, pyrosequencing and high-throughput quantitative PCR. Experimental designs, standards for DNA array procedures, guidance in data management and analysis.
Histopathology
Histology and comparative pathology service: paraffin, plastic, and cryostat sectioning, preparation of slides for conventional and specialized staining, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization; conventional and specialized slide staining and immunohistochemistry; necropsy services including appropriate tissue fixation required for animal experiments; comprehensive consultation and collaboration on comparative and experimental pathology; basic photomicroscopy services.
Immunohistology
State-of-the-art computer-controlled immunohistochemical system, extensive menu of antibodies (Angiogenesis - CD34, CD31, Factor VIII, FAK, VEGF, HIF-1 alpha; apoptosis - bcl-2, CD30, MDM2, TUNEL, activated caspase 3; cell cycle and related - cyclins D1, E, p16, p21, p27, p53, p57; hematopoietic - CD1a, CD3, CD4, CD8, CD5, CD61, CD99, TIA-1, CD117; hormone and related - estrogen, progesterone, erb-B2, MIB-1; thymidine phosphorylase, CD44, cytokeratins 7, 19, 17, E-cadherin, FHIT, Cox-2, TTF-1, TGF-b, MDR, EGF-R, green fluorescent protein). Development of preliminary data as well as staining of funded research.
Mouse Imaging
Magnetic resonance micro-imaging ('MRI) and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) services to detect and follow tumor progression in mouse models.
NYUCI Protemics Core Facility
Assists scientists at NYU with their research by helping them to characterize proteins of interest.
Tissue Acquisition & Banking Services
Human tissue sample procurement (collected from excess surgical material) and tissue banking for investigators involved in peer-reviewed grants or institutionally funded projects.
Transgenic Mouse/ES Cell Chimera Facility
Production of transgenic (Tg) mice by zygote injection, production of embryonic stem (ES) cell chimeras, and rederivation of mouse strains.
Vaccine & Cell Therapy Laboratory
Production and monitoring of experimental immunotherapies for patients with cancer or chronic viral infections.
