Nerve and muscle biopsy patients

Patients that are referred for muscle and/or nerve biopsies (excluding fascicular biopsies, see nerve and muscle biopsy section) may be scheduled for their procedure without seeing the surgeon in the office. A phone call to discuss the procedure will occur a few days prior to surgery. They will then meet the surgeon and discuss the biopsy prior to the procedure in day surgery. This avoids the patient having to make a separate trip to the office to discuss the procedure. If desired, patients are nevertheless welcome to schedule an office consultation before the surgery-this is at the patient's discretion. We encourage patients to read the nerve and muscle biopsy section. If you do not have internet access, the office can mail you a copy.
