State-of-the-art computer-assisted stereotactic methods are used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. Procedures include stereotactic thalamotomy, pallidotomy and bilateral simultaneous implantation of deep brain stimulation systems (DBS) into the subthalamic nuclei (STN). A multidisciplinary team comprising neurologists, neurophysiologists, a speech pathologist and neuropsychologist is involved in patient selection, intraoperative electrophysiologic monitoring and postoperative evaluation and follow-up.
Dr. Erik Parker and Dr. Patrick Kelly perform numerous deep brain stimulation procedures per year, and hundreds of volumetric stereotaxis cases.
