Dr. Jafar is Professor of Neurosurgery and director of the Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery at NYU. He did his residency training at The University of Chicago under Dr. Sean Mullan. Following that he was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he established the stroke research laboratory. He has had a lifelong interest in cerebral blood flow. While in Chicago he also established the cerebral blood flow laboratory and was honored with teacher of the year award. In 1989 he joined the Department of Neurosurgery at NYU and was responsible for the founding of the Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery, as well as the Center for Cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Jafar has had fellowship training with Professor Lindsay Simon at the National Hospital for Nervous Disease, at Queen Square, London, England, and with Professor Ghazi Yasargil in Zurich, Switzerland. He has participated in multiple multi-center trials. He is the author of more than 70 publications, mainly involving cerebrovascular disease.
Dr. Huang graduated from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his neurosurgical training at NYU. He has a clinical interest in cerebrovascular surgery and the radiosurgical treatment of vascular lesions. He is also Director of Neurosurgery at NYU Downtown Hospital, a small community hospital located close to City Hall, Wall Street and Chinatown.
