Neuroscience Institute Events

To bring together the neuroscience community and stay abreast of the latest research developments, the Neuroscience Institute welcomes researchers from across NYU and NYU Langone campuses to attend our seminars, colloquia, lectures, and annual retreat.

Joint Neuroscience Colloquia

The Joint Neuroscience Colloquia series features distinguished speakers from around the world who visit the university to share cutting-edge research and meet with faculty and trainees. For more than a decade, this series has been jointly sponsored by the NYU Center for Neural Science and neuroscience groups within NYU Langone to help build community and foster collaborations across departments and campuses.

Weekly Group Meeting

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to present their ongoing research to the community during our weekly group meeting. What started as a small group has become a popular forum, with more than 35 labs participating.

CoNNExINS

CoNNExINS, or Colloquium at NYU for Networking: Extramural for Invited Neuroscience Students, is a joint symposium co-sponsored by NYU Center for Neural Science. Created in 2021, CoNNExINS provides an opportunity for advanced graduate students from outside NYU to present their work to our joint research communities. Our goal through this series is to increase diversity in the postdoctoral scholars recruited to our unique and collaborative training environment. Further, the experience is a valuable opportunity for senior graduate students to share their research and receive feedback from NYU and NYU Langone faculty and trainees while connecting with prospective laboratories for a postdoctoral position. Learn more about CoNNExINS.

SPiNES Lectures

The Neuroscience Institute hosts Seminars by Postdocs in Neuroscience: Extramural Series, or SPiNES. This monthly event invites postdoctoral researchers from outside of NYU Langone to present their work in seminars, to meet one-on-one with faculty, and to engage our community in informal discussions.

Rodolfo Llinás Lecture

The Neuroscience Institute created the annual Rodolfo Llinás lecture series in recognition of Rodolfo Llinás, MD, PhD, and his exemplary contributions to the field of neuroscience throughout his long and distinguished career. György Buzsáki, MD, PhD, presented this honor to Dr. Llinás at the 2013 Brain Meets Cognition Symposium. The Llinás lecture series features prominent neuroscientists whose areas of expertise build upon the seminal contributions of Dr. Llinás. Special thanks to Donna and Roys Poyiadjis for their continued support of this annual event.

The 2023 Rodolfo Llinás lecture took place on October 2 at NYU Langone in Manhattan. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Yang Dan, Professor of Neurobiology, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley.

Neuroscience Retreat

Each year, NYU Langone hosts the Neuroscience Retreat to highlight important science currently under way in our labs. All members of the NYU neuroscience community and beyond are encouraged to attend. Faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students present their work through short talks and posters.
