Post-transcriptional genetic deregulation in breast cancer
Dr. Schneider is a co-director of translational cancer research and a co-director of the breast cancer research program. His lab focuses on fundamental cellular processes of genetic deregulation which are associated with development of human carcinomas, particularly in breast cancer, liver cancer by human hepatitis B virus, the control of oncogene and pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA stability. In these areas research is directed to the mechanisms by which regulation of cellular protein synthesis, angiogenesis, hypoxia and inflammatory cytokines promote malignant tumor development.
