Education and General Information

Graduate Education: Dr. Schneider received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY in 1981.

Postdoctoral Training: Dr. Schneider was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Microbiology at Stony Brook, continued in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, Princeton. NJ, 1981-1985.

Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in breast cancer and the inflammatory response
Dr. Schneider is Director of translational cancer research, Co-director of the breast cancer research program and an Associate Director of the NYU Cancer Institute. His lab focuses on fundamental cellular processes of genetic deregulation which are associated with development of human carcinomas, particularly breast cancer and the control of oncogene and pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA stability. In these areas of research his investigations are directed to the mechanisms by which regulation of cellular protein synthesis, angiogenesis, hypoxia and control of inflammatory cytokine mRNA stability and translation promote malignant tumor development and regulate the inflammatory response.
