Overview

The driving research interest of NYU's Division of Rheumatology is the biology of inflammation and autoimmunity, including the role of leukocytes, endothelium, complement, cytokines, and eicosanoids, as well as the role of intracellular signaling cascades in inflammation.

The division is especially renowned for its focus on translational, or bench-to-beside, research. Applying intelligence gained in the laboratory to actual clinical cases gives patients a tremendous advantage and provides the opportunity to fine-tune medications and protocols based on patient response.
