Clinical Immunology Laboratory
Clinical Immunology LaboratoryThe NYUHJD Clinical Immunology Laboratory provides diagnostic testing for both inpatient and outpatient services throughout the NYU Langone Medical Center. The broad range of assays performed in our lab assists physicians with diagnosing many rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, sjogren’s syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease, scleroderma, many of the vasculitides, and other syndromes. These tests include immunofluorescence staining, antibody ELISA assays, latex agglutination, nephelometry and Western blots. In sum, we ran a total of 22,983 tests on during the 2007 calendar year.
In addition to running the routine tests ordered by physicians throughout the Medical Center, our laboratory team is eager to continue speaking with physicians to better interpret results in the context of challenging clinical cases. We also strive to pose broader research questions based on the results of our cumulative tests, with hopes of pursuing projects and making contributions to the field of rheumatology.
