Dr. Rennie Geoffroy was awarded an Osteoarthritis Fellowship Grant from the NY Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation to study Incidence and severity of osteoarthritis in patients with hyperuricemia and Gout.

Research Synopsis:
The topic of this study is to examine the association between gout and asymptomatic hyperuricemia with osteoarthritis. This will be accomplished by comparing the incidence and severity of osteoarthritis in patients with gout, asymptomatic hyperuricemia, and healthy controls. Moreover, the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound will be implemented to assess the aforementioned diseases, including evaluation for uric acid crystal deposition in joints of patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia.
