The full- and part-time members of the faculty of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology provide inpatient and outpatient care and consultation for people with infectious diseases at Tisch and Bellevue hospitals and at the VA Medical Center New York.
Bellevue Hospital
At Bellevue Hospital Center, full-time division faculty provide outpatient care to approximately 1,900 persons infected with HIV and inpatient care to some 700 patients a year hospitalized with complications of HIV in a 30-bed dedicated unit.
In May 2003 the Infectious Diseases Consultation Service at Bellevue Hospital was expanded to improve the promptness and quality of consultations. The service, which previously consisted of two fellows and one attending physician, now includes two consultation teams, with one fellow and one attending each.
Tisch Hospital
At Tisch Hospital, consultations are provided by part-time voluntary faculty, who are full-time clinicians with expertise in diverse infectious diseases, including HIV, infections in cancer patients, infections in recipients of solid organ transplants, and surgical infections.
Veterans Affairs Hospital
The Infectious Diseases Section at the VA Hospital offers outpatient care to approximately 1,200 veterans infected with HIV and performs approximately 400 inpatient consults per year.
