Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases delivers inaugural Evers Lecture

Anthony S. Fauci, MD

Dr. Fauci, an internationally-renowned leader in human immunology and in AIDS research, care, and policy, gave the first annual Leo M. Evers Lecture in Infectious Diseases at the NYU School of Medicine on October 29, 2008. Dr. Fauci's lecture, titled, "Global Health and Infectious Diseases: A Perpetual Challenge", provided a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities faced by scientists and clinicians in infectious diseases. Dr. Fauci's visit also provided the opportunity for fellows and faculty to meet with Dr. Fauci and discuss their work.

The Leo M. Evers Lectureship was established by a generous philanthropic gift to the Division of Infectious Diseases by Mrs. Irma Evers, in memory of her husband, and in honor of Dr. Eddie Louie, a member of the faculty in the Division. The Evers Lecture will be an annual event, featuring a leader in the field of infectious diseases.
