NYU School of Medicine's Division of Hematology was founded some 45 years ago under the direction of Dr. Peter A. Miescher and has been led by Dr. Simon Karpatkin since 1993.

A Center of Excellence in the training of hematology and oncology fellows, the division has also been the incubator of significant breakthroughs in hematology research.
