This committee was created to advise the Chair of the Department of Medicine on new appointments to the department's clinical faculty and on the granting of promotions to faculty members who have excelled in the areas of teaching, patient care, scholarship, and administration.

With the help of the Department Chair, the committee has established an objective process for evaluating the performance of members of the clinical faculty who are being considered for promotion. The committee's role in the promotion process has been designed to enhance the academic environment of the department and further the career satisfaction of the clinical faculty.
