What I love about endocrinology is its translational aspect — identifying unanswered questions in a clinical setting and then using your brainpower and resources to figure out what the answer is.

When I became Acting Director in 2003, my goal was to pull the division together and make it a place where medical research and clinical activities are smoothly integrated. It has been exciting to see that begin to happen in a relatively short period of time.

The educational program, in particular, is very high quality. People who want to be excellent clinical endocrinologists know that this is the place to train in a supportive environment.
