Description:The primary objective of this initiative is to design, implement and evaluate a substance abuse research training program for physicians, nurses and dentists that will stimulate participants’ interest in pursuing careers in drug abuse research. Learners, motivated by their participation in this curriculum will be offered participation in a broad range of NIDA-funded research opportunities, fostering research engagement with seasoned mentors.

Title Accessing breast cancer clinical trials for immigrants (ABC CiTI)

Description:The goal of ABC CiTI is to bridge the language barrier between limited English proficient (LEP) patients and physicians. ABC CiTI is developing an online training program for physicians, fellows, and staff on enrolling LEP patients in breast cancer trials, and a program for LEP patients on clinical trials.

Description:SAEHAT addresses an important gap in hypertension education and service linkage for South Asian Americans, at high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The objectives of SAEHAT are to develop a community-based participatory research program to reduce cardiovascular disease disparities and to design and assess the efficacy of an educational intervention in improving access to a) hypertension care in the South Asian American community, and b) to cardiovascular disease risk factor diagnosis.

Description:The primary objective of this study is to determine whether the addition of individual drug counseling to the prescription of Buprenorphine/Naloxone (BUP/NX) with Standard Medical Management (SMM) for subjects dependent on prescription opioid analgesics improves outcome both during (a) an initial 4-week treatment with taper and (b) a 12-week stabilization treatment for those who do not respond successfully to the initial treatment with taper.
