General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program
Masters of Science in Medical Education
Curriculum
Our teaching methods use the learner-centered approach, adapted by Dr. Mack Lipkin and others for medical training. While many goals and objectives are preset, others are negotiated to permit active learner input and individualization, keeping learners at their edge and enhancing motivation, with teachers functioning as consultant-facilitators.
The curriculum goes beyond course content by providing multiple opportunities for trainees to apply, articulate and practice teaching the content, skills, and attitudes for the underserved to students and residents.
Most coursework is completed in year one of the program, leaving more time for research and educational practice in year 2.
