Harmony Reynolds, M.D.

Dr. Reynolds is a non-invasive cardiologist and clinical investigator. She has a particular interest in the study of heart disease in women. Current projects targeted to women include studies of acute coronary syndromes with non-obstructive coronary artery disease and of apical ballooning cardiomyopathy (tako-tsubo syndrome). Dr. Reynolds is an investigator in the Clinical Coordinating Center of OAT (Occluded Artery Trial), the NHLBI-funded, 2200-patient, multi-center, randomized trial which is testing the hypothesis that late opening of the infarct related artery (PCI/stent) will reduce the 3 year risk of death, MI and Class IV CHF and OAT-NUC, the ancillary study of OAT which focuses on viability and remodeling. She is also an investigator involved in the oversight of TRIUMPH, an international, multi-center, randomized clinical trial of nitric oxide synthase inhibition in cardiogenic shock. Additional research focuses on the use of carotid ultrasound in the diagnosis of atherosclerosis in patients with congestive heart failure and systemic lupus erythematosus and the use of chelation therapy in patients after myocardial infarction.
